At its center is Sinister — catalogued by the corporation Blisswood as “Dwarf Eight,” and the only fairy-tale figure ever to escape its control. Blisswood is a fairy-tale empire and totalitarian state that markets its figures as global icons while controlling their bodies and stories. From Raze, beyond Blisswood’s reach, a resistance operates — among them the hacker Vince, along with Mara and Rook. To hunt them down, Blisswood sends Agent Draven to eliminate Sinister and his people. Vince’s Desktop presents Vince’s leaked desktop, holding hundreds of internally consistent in-world documents: medical and psychological records, intelligence files and corporate reports. A work of immersive fiction and a dark fairy-tale deconstruction about control, exploitation and the longing for authenticity — an example of where the future of literature may lead.
